A decade of growing the Swiss digital gift card market

September marks a milestone for Swiss gift card company, Offerz, as its staff and customers celebrate its tenth anniversary of business. Originally starting out in 2014 as a popular online store for gamers to purchase credit, founder, Dominik Megert, spotted an opportunity to evolve this service into something that would serve a purpose for a wider majority of Swiss citizens.

Dominik’s aspiration to bring something new and special to the Swiss market has encouraged him to launch multiple products to target both B2B and B2C channels. In a short space of time, Offerz positioned itself as a leading provider of digital gift cards in Switzerland, excelling the reach and impact of much larger competitors in the region thanks to its focus on the Swiss currency.

With a total audience reach of approximately seven million Swiss citizens – a whopping 80% of the population – and selling CHF 150 Mio. worth of gift cards since launch, Offerz operates a consumer-facing online store, whilst working simultaneously with many corporate clients to fulfil B2B2C loyalty, reward and incentive schemes.

What does Offerz offer?

The Offerz mission is to provide B2B and B2C access to the Swiss digital gift card market, whether that is facilitating a channel for global and national brands to engage with Swiss citizens or projecting Swiss brands to reach an international audience.

As a distributor, the Offerz catalogue boasts more than 100 consumer gift card brands, with leading names such as IKEA, adidas, Xbox, Spotify and Netflix. Software packages, mobile top ups and eSIMs, and pre-paid payment solutions are also available. All of these can be purchased directly on the online shop, through various employee and customer programs, or via one of Offerz many reseller partnerships.

Switzerland’s first Swiss-made multi-brand gift card

In addition to single-brand cards and products, Offerz were proud to introduce the first multi-brand gift card in Switzerland that is available to order in both physical and digital formats, with the extra option to print into a purposefully designed PDF too. The card brings together more than 50 brands and can be personalised with messages, videos, links and QR codes. Feedback has been exceptionally positive, with customers enjoying the end-to-end service of purchase, gifting and redemption. The Supergutschein gift card has recently hit its 10,000th order!

To celebrate the ten-year company anniversary, Offerz has lined up lots of promotions for customers and clients on the Supergutschein website, including exclusive brand discounts and value-adds, plus a wheel of fortune game.

API connections and partnerships

The Offerz API allows for businesses running their own platforms and programs to access the catalogue as required. This works for both Swiss-specific organisations, or international companies wishing to include Swiss Francs in their reward repertoire.

Two of Switzerland’s largest payment brands are fuelled by the Offerz API connection:

  • Offerz facilitates the purchase and redemption of digital vouchers and credit on TWINT, the leading payment app in Switzerland. Its five million active-user base can access a large selection of the Offerz catalogue on-demand whilst staying within the TWINT shop.
  • Swiss credit card and cashback platform, Poinz, utilises the Offerz brand network to generate vouchers and promo codes for its one million+ cardholders.

Full solution provider

Offerz brings more to the table beyond its extensive brand catalogue. B2B customers have the opportunity to utilise two white label platforms to easily implement rewards, loyalty and benefits schemes without excessive overheads and breakage costs.

Both white label products allow companies to independently customise and manage their own programs for staff or customers via a modular system. Working via an innovative subscription and redemption model, organisations simply pay monthly for the modules that suit their end use case, plus the value of any gift card redemptions. The modules range from straight forward, no frills access to the Offerz gift card catalogue, all the way to a fully customised experience.

Since launch, these platforms have been greatly popular thanks to their budget-saving premise. By running programs with Offerz, some clients are likely to see a cost saving of 40%, compared to what they’d spend with another program provider.

Whilst the platforms are similar in build and user experience, the loyalty-based version has features that facilitate the running of incentive campaigns and date-triggered rewards.
